Birthday card

This is the card I made at a stampin' up party I went to with my big sis. It was my mum's birthday today so used this card as I thought she would like it.

Sleeping like, well, a baby

Picnic time

The weather has been fantastic this week and we were invited to one of Wee Man's friends for a picnic yesterday. We had a fab time.

My first certificate!

Wee Man finally got a certificate at his baby sign language classes. He holds his arms up at you when he wants picking up. Yay - we can communicate in other ways than screaming. "Get up" today - who knows what tomorrow. Clever boy!

8 month check-up

Wee Man had his 6 month check-up today. He passed with flying colours. I'm so relieved as one of his lovely little friends was found to have a clicky hip and needs an operation.

He has grown too - he is now 20lb 10oz and 74cm. He has gone from the 50th percentile on both height and weight to the 75th for weight and the 91st for height. His head has always been at the 91st percentile - big brain or just a big head; you decide...

A caged animal

Or maybe practicing for robbing backs when he's bigger.

Mothers day card

This is the card I made for my lovely mum and equally lovely mother in law. I'm lucky to have two fab mums.

It was made using stampin' up subtles card and ink, and the stamps are from a set I got years ago - from Lakeland I think.

Birthday party

Wee Man went to his first birthday party on Wednesday. I think he had fun - hanging around with the girls, playing in the ball pit, eating cake.

My first mothers day

Wow! We're obviously giving the boy too much pocket money because I was totally spoilt today. He even wrote in the card himself - with only a little assistance from his Dad.

I wasn't sure I'd ever get to this point. As a kid I wasn't bothered about marriage and kids but as I got older and met my fab husband I really wanted a family. Finally after nearly 10 years we made it. And what a fantastic family I have! Well worth the wait.

You know you're not feeding a newborn anymore when...

It feels like you're breastfeeding an octopus. Hand #1 is trying to find jazz fm on the free nipple, hand #2 is being inserted in your nose/mouth/eye, hand #3 is waving Monkey around, hand #4 is pulling your hair, and hands #5 and #6 are grabbing each side of the free boob and ramming it into his mouth. Two little feet are alternating between kicking you, pushing against you to wriggle, and rubbing against you in a soothing manner. All this is accompanied by dropping on and off the boob to: swap boobs, grin at you, shout Dadadada, request tickles, check Monkey hasn't wandered off, look round the room, generally squirm.

And I wouldn't swap it for the world. He's such a cheeky octopus chops!

Good job people don't have MOTs

Because I'd fail!

I had my tooth out on Monday. It was very loose - one pull and it was out. It was the one next to the wisdom tooth that I had out a couple of years ago. The wisdom tooth was growing horizontally into this tooth and damaged it. It also meant that there wasn't much bone there which is why the tooth was loose. It seems to be healing well so that's good.

I also went to the doctors with a little list for her.

1. I needed my prescriptions renewing. Fine.

2. My hernia is still playing up even after physio. I have a referral for that.

3. Big Man thinks I might have sleep apnea. I have a referral for that too.

4. I have an ulcer on my tongue which isn't shifting. I've got steroids for that and a checkup in 2 weeks.

I'm a wreck! Bizarrely I feel pretty well really.

My two men have had man/boy flu this week and have not been well at all. They are both a lot better now though.

My lovely grandad in law isn't very well either - I hope he's on the mend very very soon x

One snotty little boy

Wee Man is full of cold today - poor thing.

Back to work

I'm going back to work in 7 weeks.

Part of me is dreading it, and part of me is looking forward to it. It will be hard to not be with Wee Man, but nice to have adult company. Great for Wee Man to spend more time with his Dad too. I have loved being home with him and would happily be a stay at home mum if finances permitted, but i do like my job and miss it a little bit.

I have asked for a change in my hours so that either his Dad or I will be home most of the time. If work agree to the change I've asked for then we won't need a nursery place as his Gran and Grandad will look after him the few times we can't (only 4 mornings every 8 weeks). I've got a meeting at work on Thursday to discuss it with them - keep your fingers crossed for me please.

Baby steps

No not actual ones, but what has been happening the last few weeks. Wee Man hasn't done anything big new but lots of little things instead - when you dress him he helps you by putting his arms through the sleeves, he knows to pull the rings off one of his toys, he recognises the raspberry container (he loves raspberries), and best of all he loves playing with you. He shakes his head from side to side and then looks at you waiting for you to copy it, grins the biggest grin when you do and then does it again. He's just so much fun.
