3, 2, 1, go!

Wee Lass has been 'crawling' around (backwards, using her tummy). She's definitely mobile now - she got under the table when my back was turned!

Always handy in a zombie apocalypse!

I want Wee Man around me if we ever get a zombie apocalypse. Today he shouted "run for your knives!" :-D

I didn't correct him :-D

Happy 3rd birthday

Wee Man was 3 last week. He's a bit tractor crazy so deciding his present was easy.

It was a big hit and he watched a film sat on it later on. It has made it's way outside now thankfully.

He got a few more tractors and diggers to add to his collection. Here are just a few.

First courgette

A few weeks ago Wee Man and I planted some herbs and veg plants. Today we harvested our first courgette.

3 months old!

Wee Lass was 3 months old yesterday! I don't know where the time has gone.

She has had a few slow growth weeks because of her tongue tie and not very efficient feeding, but we had a good weigh in this week. She had put on 9.5oz in the last fortnight and is now 10lb 5.5oz. She is holding her line on the growth chart nicely - it's just a dinky line - between the 2nd and 9th percentile.

She also rolled from her front to her back twice - the first time I put her down for tummy time. Clever girl :-)

Last day of playgroup

Last Thursday was Wee Man's last day in playgroup. He has had a great time there and loved going (mostly to play with scoop).

His teacher and teaching assistants have been fantastic - always cheerful and supportive. We made them a little present to say thank you (just spotted I forgot to put mouths on them - doh).

I asked Danny to describe them and got some fantastic quotes:

Mrs Pritchard...

Mrs Green...

Miss Taylor...

Selective hearing

Me: i need you to be a good boy at bed time because daddy is at work.

Wee Man: looking out the window/at his toys/anywhere but me.

Me: listen to me. I need you to be a good boy at bed time because daddy is at work.

Wee Man: looking out the window/at his toys/anywhere but me.

Me: what did I just say?

Wee Man: be a good boy and you'll get a kinder egg.

Me: hits head in hands.

Sibling love

They are very fond of each other. Wee Lass's first big smile was for her big brother.

Future career: spy?

Wee Man could take up a career as a spy! I've got all his birthday party stuff in the spare room. I popped in there the other day while he was on the iPad - just to turn the printer on - 30 seconds max. Turned round and he was in the middle of the spare bed with his hands in the box of party stuff.

Then today he was in the garden and I took the fondant dumper truck I've been making for his birthday cake out the cupboard to show Big Man and he was there within seconds saying "wow a dumper truck!"  The good thing is he recognised what it was. But my god he's quiet when he wants to be!

If you ask him what he wants to be he says "farmer and digger man". He's selling himself short I think.

Mummy's little helper

Wee Man helped me plant some herbs last week. He was very useful and watered them all for me too. He nearly as much water on the plants as he got down himself. Wee Lass was in her sling fast asleep throughout all the fun.

Sibling snuggles

You can never have too many cuddles

Tongue tie - again!

When Wee Man was born I had real trouble breastfeeding him - my nipples were cracked and very sore. After a few weeks and being checked by lots of people we eventually figured out he had a tongue tie. We had it operated on when he was 4 weeks old and things got a lot easier.

Wee Lass started off feeding ok, but was a little slow putting on weight. I didn't think she had a tongue tie because I wasn't sore. But over the last few weeks her feeding has got a lot worse and I'm having to basically squeeze the milk into her. It takes a long time and is uncomfortable for me. At the end of last week it trigged that maybe she did have a tongue tie - I had a check and yes, she does. I popped to the gp to get an official diagnosis (thankfully one of the gp's at my surgery is a breastfeeding expert) and then booked the first private appointment I could find to get it sorted out. We're off to Manchester for an appointment at 7pm tonight.

First visit to the cinema

On Saturday we took Wee Man to the cinema for the first time. I wasn't sure if he would get bored. I shouldn't have worried - he loved it! We saw Postman Pat - the movie. He only took his eyes off the screen to get more popcorn. He has spent most of the time since pretending to be robot Jess the cat and lasering people with his laser eyes.

Snack time fun

Wee Man takes a snack to school so I get a chance to be creative. This week we've had:

A little intruder (grape with icing eyes). Too many crackers for him in this snack - I'd swap half for some fruit next time.

A fish shaped egg

And a couple of aliens

Day at the beach

New wheels

In the toy pram

She fits just perfectly!

Potty training

We made the most of the half term holiday and potty trained the Wee Man. He did really well and we've had 100% success on for the last 4 days. He went to school today in big boy pants and did a wee on the little loo there.

Here he is next to his first potty wee.

Visiting friends

A friend of mine had a baby a few weeks before us. It's lovely to have someone to share baby talk with. Wee Lass doesn't seem to agree!

Vintage transport fayre

Big Man was working so it was my first big trip out on my own with both kids!

Sleep time

Snuggles with mum

Being carried in a sling is the way to travel - cuddles and transport all in one.

Cuddles with Nana

Playing in the woods

My big sister came up to see the new baby and we had a lovely walk in the woods.

First trip out

It was only the supermarket but it was out the house! Wee Man was very pleased to finally have his little sister sitting next to him in the trolly - he's been saying for ages that she'd sit next to him.

Settling in as a family of 4

We're all settling in very nicely. Danny is being very sweet with Emily - checking she is ok and giving her lots of cuddles. Let's hope it carries on :-) We even left the house today.
