Goodbye 2012, hello 2013

What a year!

Wee Man has his first birthday.
Said his first words.
Crawled.
Walked.
Made us laugh.
Learnt to give kisses and cuddles.
Learnt to do fake burps (thanks daddy).
I went back to work - and survived! Better than survived - I'm actually quite enjoying it.

It has been amazing. Every day I'm stunned at how quickly he changes, learns and grows.

It's been so amazing that we're going to try and do it all over again. I start ivf on Friday - woohoo!

Happy new year everyone. I hope 2013 brings you everything you wish for.

Toys, toys and more toys

My main job at the end of each day is putting toys away.

Wee Man's main job throughout the day is getting all his toys out and spreading them far and wide. He makes sure that a few go under the sofa just to make sure I get some exercise.

Bath time

Bath time - and reason for bath time!

Christmas 2012

Wee Man is fast asleep after a very busy day. He got the hang of opening presents very quickly and had a lovely morning opening a present, playing with it, then opening another one.

We had a lovely dinner with all the family who live locally.

Merry Christmas. I hope you had a wonderful day. Xx

Tonight Mummy, I will bring to bed my..

Wee Man just has started wanting to bring things to bed. It started with his Iggle Piggle teddy. Fine - it's soft and small. A few nights later it was a plastic Percy train "toma" ("Thomas", no matter how many times I try to explain that not all trains are called Thomas). Not so fine - it's small but solid and hurts when you get hit in the face with it.

The next night it was an almost empty sippy cup. Better than toma because it isn't as heavy so hurts less when you get hit in the face, but that tiny bit of water in the bottom can actually make quite a mess. Tonight it was a large dog soft toy. It's nearly as big as him but soft soft soft - I'm happy.

My only complaint is how come he managed to hit me in the face at least once with the hard things, but tonight when I wouldn't have minded, there was no mindless beating up of Mummy. It's a conspiracy!

I like to read

This is my book on baby led weaning. It tastes very nice.

Should I put it on the bookcase next to the chewed how to train your puppy book?

1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Wee Man counted to 10 today, well he did if you forget about 9.

Clever boy :-)

Using a spoon

I'm a big boy now. I can use a spoon. I don't make much mess - honest!

Shoe shopping with mummy

We went shopping at the weekend for a pair of shoes for Wee Man. His walking has come on so well this week and there is a Clarks shop at my sisters (Wee Man and I had a road trip on our own while poor Daddy had to work) so it made sense.

He sat nicely and let the lady measure his feet - 5G. There was only one pair in stock in his size so that made the decision easy - blue with a dinosaur motif.

When he first had the shoes put on he walked like he was stuck in mud and really picked his feet up. It was very funny, although he didn't seem to think so. He soon got the hang of it though and is now scampering around happily.

Dear Santa

Dear Santa

I have been a very good boy this year. I like wheels. A lot.

Playing with my cousins

We went to a soft play centre today. Wee Man had fun in the toddler section, then went in the main area with his cousins.

Walking - finally!

I was away with work on Tuesday an in my absence Wee Man decided to walk properly. He's been doing a few steps here and there for ages but it must have finally clicked that he can get around faster if he walks than crawls. There has been no stopping him since, he's practically running now!

Jail break

Gran and Grandad have a playpen for when Wee Man is over there.

Yesterday he reached over the top, opened the gate and walked out. He looked at his Gran, said "no", walked back in and closed the gate behind him.

I'm pleased he has an inquisitive mind and figured out the gate.

I think its hilarious that he told himself off.

I'm glad he was a good boy and went back in.

But I'm still going to bring a tie wrap with me next time I'm dropping him off. Cheeky monkey!

Bye bye baby

Every time I got to work I give Wee Man a kiss and say "bye bye baby". When I dropped him off at his Gran and Grandad's yesterday he said "bye bye baby" to me.

And he's learn how to blow kisses. What a cutie :-D

I don't look like a girl do I?

I think I quite suit this headband.

Birthday cake

For his first birthday I made an igloo cake with lots of penguins. It wasn't as hard as I expected.

Talking but not walking

Wee Man knows lots of words now - most days he comes up with a new one. He understands simple questions and tells you if he wants a drink or a book read to him.

He's not walking on his own though. He will walk if you hold his hands, and takes a few steps on his own. I'm sure it won't be long until he's running around.

Haircut needed?

Daddy tells me to get a haircut almost every time he sees me.
Mummy loves my 70's look.
Great gran thinks I look like a mini beetle.
Checkout operator called me a girl.
What do you think?

My first pony

He might not be alive but I love him anyway.

How to play

1. Get box full of toys.
2. Remove toys.
3. Climb in box.
4. Grin

Normal service resumed

Sorry I've been a bit rubbish and haven't written anything for the last few months.

Things were a bit busy with Wee Man's birthday, then his daddy had to have his appendix out. When all that was over and done with I was out the habit of posting.

I have lots of new piccies to share :-)

I love soft play

We went to the soft play cafe in town on Friday to meet up with some mummy friends.

I wasn't sure if Wee Man would like it or not because there were lots of bigger kids running around, but he totally loved it. I plonked him down in a corner and he sat there grinning at the kids running around. After a while he got his confidence up and started crawling around. Then some little girls started playing with him - fetching toys, giving him hugs and kisses, etc. He was grinning at them like a nutter - he likes attention. When it was time to go he wasn't happy and tried to escape to go back in.

We went yesterday morning too seeing as it was such a hit. And yes, he found another little girl to play with.

Quite a collection of words

Wee Man can say quite a lot of words now:

Dada
Mum
Cat
Dog
Meg (one of the dogs who is great with him - always up for a cuddle)
There
Gone
Tick tock (his gran taught him this one)
Juice

Not bad for an 11 month old :-)

Edit: and light and eyes, both thanks to gran.

First sign!

As you know I've been taking Wee Man to baby sign language classes since he was a out 10 weeks old. He finally did his first sign last Friday - milk. Clever boy! He now signs milk the whole time he's having his milkies.

Buoyed by our success with milk I thought we'd try and sign mummy. The sign for this is tapping your head with your first 3 fingers. He watched me sign it a few times and raised his hand. I waited expectingly - and he hit me round the head. Hmmm - not quite right little chap.

On the mend

I went to the doctors again on Friday with Wee Man because he was getting worse not better. Doctor took a look and said he had tonsillitis. Poor thing. He was prescribed a second antibiotic to take alongside the first one.

The good news is that he's a lot better now. He still has a chesty cough but his breathing is a lot less crackly.

First swim

When we were at my sisters for the jubilee weekend we took Wee Man swimming. We weren't allowed to bring a camera into the pool so I took a photo of him all ready to go.

He cried a bit, quite a bit, when he first got into the pool. I think he expected it to be bath temperature so it was a bit cold for him. But we moved to the big pool and he settled down and quite enjoyed it. His cousins entertained him pretending to be sharks, and his meany uncle made me duck him under the water a couple of times. He was ok with it - not sure I was!

When we got out he cried - properly cried! The changing rooms were quite cold and I think he got a chill. He soon calmed down when he was warm and dry. He had a fab afternoon snooze after all that exercise!

Making music

Just like my Daddy

Cool dude

Poorly sick

Wee Man has a chest infection and is on antibiotics :-( He gave me a cough about 4 week ago and it looks like I've given it back to him. Typically he got the man (or boy) version of it and isn't very well at all. His Gran and Grandad were in charge of him yesterday and after his nap he didn't look very well and his chest was sounding quite rattly so he was taken to the doctors. Thank you Gran and Grandad for excellent caring of our precious baby Xx

BIG ted

We went to visit my big brother and my sister in law today. We had a lovely crafting day, and then my other brother and family came over. It was lovely to see everyone.

My brother gave Wee Man his birthday present early. It wasn't wrapped so he got to play with it straight away. He loves it!

Enjoying the sun

Only for about 15 minutes though - it was HOT!

Teeth #2 & #3

No sign of the bottom left coming through to join the bottom right one (which has been there for weeks), but the top left one has broken through the gum and the top right one is not far behind.

New improved baby prison

For his first birthday Wee Man's great gran and grandad have bought him a large playpen. It's great - room for lots of toys, mum or dad, and even a dog if required. He's happy sitting on there playing - and we know he's safe.

I know it's a bit early to be opening birthday presents but we're very grateful to have this one already. Thanks Nana and Gangan Xx

First full day with Gran & Grandad

On Monday Wee Man had his first full day with both mum and dad working so he went to Gran and Grandad's. I'm not sure what they did all day but it must have been fun because he was very smiley when I picked him up and giggled all the way home!

He also learnt where nose and mouth were - leave a kid alone with two teachers and he's going to get taught something.

He asked if he can go back very soon because he had so much fun. Thank you ever so much for taking such good care of him Gran and Grandad Xx

Amazing what you can buy at the supermarket

Figuring things out

Wee Man figured out that if he puts the little man at the top of the ramp he sets off the music. Clever boy - actions and consequences.

Peepo!

This looks like fun.

Where am I?

Peepo!

Next stage is escaping

I'm not sure how long we'll be able to keep Wee Man in his baby prison.

Playing with grandad's hat

It might be a bit big but it's lots of fun. Yeehar - I'm a cowboy!
