World book day

Lessons I have learnt from my first World Book Day:

1. Buy an outfit.
2. If your child requests something that can't be bought refer them to rule #1.
3. If they really insist, then buy twice as much stuff as you think you'll need.
4. Then get extra connecting stuff - glue, sellotape, thread, etc.
5. Clothes pegs are very useful for holding things together while glue drys. Fetch the clothes pegs from the washing line during dry daylight hours, not in the dark when it's raining.
6. Give yourself far far more time to make it then you think you'll need. It'll still not be enough but it'll help.
7. If your child 'helps' you'll need even more time. And several stiff drinks.
8. For next year remember rule #1.
9. Consider home schooling by the time child #2 starts school.
10. Have I mentioned rule #1?

Here is Wee Man as Diesel 10. He won best outfit in his class!

First reading book

Wee Man has been learning his letters and digraphs (2 letter sounds) at school. He has learnt them all so got his first reading book yesterday. It has a word a page along with a covered picture that you check after you have read the word.
